Total lunar eclipse of moon seen in North America

Sky gazers in western US and Canada observed a total lunar eclipse in the early hours of Saturday.

The unusual spectacle was visible for more than three hours just before dawn.

The total eclipse - the moment when Earth's shadow completely blocked the moon - lasted only several minutes, making it the shortest lunar eclipse of the century.
